Sheriff Randy Sanders

Sheriff Randy Sanders is a life-long resident of Highland County and a proud graduate of Hillsboro High School. Deeply rooted in the community, he has been married to his wife, Debbie, for 47 years. Together, they have raised three children and are the proud grandparents of eight.

With over 40 years of dedicated service in law enforcement, Sheriff Sanders brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the Highland County Sheriff’s Office. His career includes service with the Hillsboro Police Department, the Highland County Sheriff’s Office, the Ross County Sheriff’s Office, the US 23 Major Crimes Task Force, and the Highland County Prosecutor’s Office.

Throughout his career, Sheriff Sanders has steadily risen through the ranks, holding the positions of Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, and Major. In Ross County, he served as Commander of the US 23 Major Crimes Task Force, a regional unit that operated across five counties—including Highland County. He also played a key role in the establishment of the Highland County Task Force, which continues to serve the area in partnership with the US 23 Task Force.

In June 2025, Sheriff Sanders was honored to be elected as the Sheriff of Highland County. His longstanding commitment to justice, community safety, and regional collaboration continues to guide the office under his leadership.
