The Communications Division is the vital link between the citizens of Highland County and emergency services. Staffed by highly trained public safety dispatchers, this division operates 24/7, answering calls for law enforcement, fire, and medical emergencies. Our dispatchers are often the first point of contact during critical moments, and their ability to remain calm, focused, and efficient can save lives.
Using enhanced 911 technology, radio communication systems, and dispatch software, the Communications Division quickly gathers information, assesses emergencies, and coordinates the appropriate response. Every dispatcher undergoes extensive training in emergency medical dispatch (EMD), crisis communication, and incident prioritization to ensure rapid and accurate service.
