INVESTIGATIONS


Det. Sgt. Daniel S. Croy

Det. Sgt. Croy first started with the Lynchburg, Ohio, Police Department in 1989, graduating that year from the Brown County Police Academy.  Det. Sgt. Croy became a special deputy with Highland County in January of 1990, and began his full-time employment in the jail in 1991.  Det. Sgt. Croy became a road patrol officer in April of 1994 and promoted to Road Supervisor in August of 1999.   Det. Sgt. Croy left the Sheriff's Office for a short time, working as a probation officer with Community Corrections, returning as an investigator in December of 2000.  Det. Sgt. Croy has received training which includes traffic crash investigation-levels I & II, hostage rescue, search warrants, death investigation, advanced crime scene processing, regional drug interdiction, child abuse exploitation training, pharmaceutical drugs, burglary investigation, and radar operation.  Det. Sgt. Croy has received numerous awards from the Highland County chapter of MADD for 1994 thru 2000, as well as being recognized as "Top Cop" for the years 1995 thru 1998.  Det. Sgt. Croy was voted "Officer of the Year" in 1998 and has received several letters of commendation for work on various criminal cases. Det. Sgt. Croy was promoted to the rank of Sergeant effective December 26, 2004.


Det. Sgt. Denny Kirk

Det. Sgt. Denny Kirk beagn his career with the Sheriff's Office January 1, 2001, under a four-year grant for an investigator to handle child abuse and sexual assault cases.  Det. Sgt. Kirk brings with him five years experience as an investigator for Highland County Children Services.  Det. Sgt. Kirk is a 2000-year graduate of the Greenfield Peace Officer Basic Academy at Southern State Community College in Hillsboro.   Det. Sgt. Kirk has completed numerous hours of Ohio Child Welfare Training.  He has also received additional training in interview and interrogation, sexual assaults, crime scene, child abuse, computer crimes, financial crimes, and various other advanced law enforcement topics.  Det. Sgt. Kirk has also completed the Master Criminal Investigator Program offered by the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy.  Det. Sgt. Kirk holds a Bachelors degree in Social Work, and a Master's Degree in Political Science with concentrations in public administration and public policy analysis.  Det. Sgt. Kirk is also Licensed Social Worker (L.S.W.) by the State of Ohio.  Det. Sgt. Kirk was promoted to the rank of Sergeant effective December 26, 2004.


Det. Sgt. Richard Warner

Det. Sgt. Warner began his career in law enforcement as a patrol officer with the village of Lynchburg Police Department in 1993, and came to work as a corrections officer with the Sheriff's Office in 1995. Det. Sgt. Warner later transferred to the Communications Division as a dispatcher, and later became a road patrol officer in 1998.  Det. Sgt. Warner is a 1993 graduate of the Great Oaks Police Academy and has received additional training in corrections, cell extraction, K-55 radar, marijuana cultivation investigation, dealing with school violence, Sexual Predator Registration, homicide investigations, Ohio LEADS. Det. Sgt. Warner was promoted to road patrol supervisor on May 3, 2004, and then as an Investigator on October 1, 2005.
