Highland County Sheriff Richard Warner Warns of Phone Call Scams
Highland County Sheriff Richard Warner reports that over the last few months the Highland County Sheriff’s Office, as well as the Highland County Clerk of Court’s Office have received reports from concerned citizens stating they have gotten phone calls from individuals stating they were from the Highland County Sheriff’s Department and that in order to avoid having a warrant issued for their arrest, they needed to pay X amount of dollars. The caller instructs the citizen to pay the money right away or the Sheriff’s Office will be at their house with an arrest warrant.
Please note that the Highland County Sheriff’s Department would not do this. We do not call to collect monies if a warrant is issued. These individuals are trying to scam people out of money. Please do not give any personal information or send a check or money order to these individuals. If you do receive a call from one of these individuals, please call the Highland County Sheriff’s Department at (937) 393-1421 to make a report.
